Leadership Nugget - Zig ZIGLAR - Getting Started

“You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great" - Zig Ziglar

While cliche and often used in jest, I absolutely love this one!

To me it says: "do something, do anything, but don't let the “end game” stop you from taking that first step, your first iteration doesn't have to be your last and it definitely does not have to be perfect."

I recently read that 80% of mobile phones in existence today are smartphones. The “dumb phone” is dying. That makes sense though, right? If you have the choice, smartphone wins every time!

But if we think back to the folks who first started making cell phones, I am sure they thought about the future; what if we connect it to the internet? what if it could play music? what if it had a glass touchscreen?

The potential of what could/should be possible could have been paralyzing.

Thinking about how your current project fits into the framework of what you are planning to be in future is a great activity but it should not stop you from taking the necessary first steps toward making today better.

This Leadership nugget shows that an evolution of your ideas/projects is natural and to be expected.

#DeskJockey Challenge: If the project in front of you seemingly contains many moving pieces, departments, consulted/responsible parties and you just don't know where to start. START! The roadblocks will figure themselves out as you get moving!
