Leadership Nugget - Diversity in Projects - Dr. Seuss
“The More That You Read, The More Things You Will Know, The More That You Learn, The More Places You’ll Go” - Dr. Seuss
On my way to/from work (sometimes up to 75 minutes), I fill the time with audiobooks and podcasts. One morning on my commute, I was listening to the “How to Be More Productive” episode of the Freakonomics podcast and I heard a line which brought me back to my childhood and the Dr. Seuss nugget above!
In the episode, Charles Duhigg says “it turns out that over time, the more you learn, the more value you add, and, as a result, the more productive you are”. It sounds like Mr. Duhigg is channeling his inner Dr. Seuss, right?!
So what to take out of this? Get some diversity into your life, into your work, into your day. Get outside your comfort zone. Initially, it will take you a bit longer to complete whatever it is you are doing but it will provide you more context and you might learn something to apply later.
