Pokemon Go? Apps you use daily...
In July 2016 Pokémon Go is currently the most actively used app even more so than Twitter or Facebook. While I am intentionally not downloading this app, as I would like to keep my job and my personal safety, this new app to the scene make me wonder: "What apps do I use on a daily basis and how this changes based on new apps released?"
To answer this question, some suggest using your battery usage (Settings-> Battery-> Battery Usage) as a guide to identify these apps. Below is a screenshot of what used the most battery on my phone over the last 24 hours (as of Sunday 7/16 @ 3:06):
- Sleep Pillow
- Google Maps
- BodySpace
I do used these three apps several times a week however checking this report on a weekday would tell a much different story. Switching over to the “last 7 days” view provides a bit more accurate representation of my overall app usage.
Going purely off the battery data, you can tell how the Smartphone has worked its way into nearly every part of my life. Bellow is that aggregated story of the apps which power my life:
Pre 5:30 AM: Sleep Pillow- I have nearly become dependent on this app’s white noise to sleep... No matter in the city, the lake or wherever turn it on and I am out in 5 minutes.
5:30-6:30 AM: Audible/ Podcasts / Pocket - Entertainment and education during the commute.
6:30 AM -3:30 PM: Trello - Woking hours/non-working hours - Task and life tracker
3:30-4:15 PM: Wrapify/Google Maps/Waze: To make we we are headed in the right direction and track it for a little extra cash.
4:15-6:00 PM: Bodyspace/Interval Timer/Spotify - workouts, a timer for those workouts, and music to go along with.
Throughout the day: Messages/Mail/Phone - Staying connected with the world.
Throughout the day: Chrome - Usually used to settle a point of disagreement in daily conversation.
In summary, I think the apps I use are more influenced by the changes in my life rather than the changes in the apps released. That being said whenever I see someone playing Pokemon, I creep really hard.
