Leadership Nugget- Repetition - John Wooden

A person must hear something several times to believe it. A person must do something several times to achieve it. – John Wooden

“Third time’s a charm”  “practice makes perfect”“practice like you play”

...it could go on and on.

This train of thought is why it is “in” to bring Sports Psychologist in to help elite athletes (college, pro, Olympic) visualize success on the field of play.

Why sports teams leverage “walkthroughs” leading up to the day of the game.

Why great speakers almost always practice a big talk before giving it.

Why business goals and mantras are added to key cards, mouse pads, wall graphics, etc...

Apply it to your life…
Hear it to believe it! Leverage positive self talk. If your brain hears it, it will believe it. Be careful here, if you are telling your brain lies, it will start to believe those too!

Check out an app called UpThink if you need help with this.

Do it to achieve it! Visualize. Practice. Think through desired/possible outcomes. Put yourself in “future you’s” shoes.

John wooden. A great coach/leader. I doubt this is last time we see a quote from him.
